Principal
Alfredo F. Bird founded Bird Information Technology Corp. in 2001 after founding and leading Bird Engineering, Inc. since 1981.
Bird Engineering, Inc. found its niche in the IT marketplace as a Software Developer firm capable of tackling the more complex projects that other companies shuned. By 1985 BEI had a team of 16 systems analysts and software developers who delivered services to the Manufacturing, Wholesale & Distribution, Construction, Banking, and a number of other industries.
In 1986, BEI became the authorized reseller of the Fourth Shift Manufacturing Software Series (an ERP System) and, between 1986 and 1998, BEI sold and implemented Fourth Shift to a significant number of companies in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and Central America, delivering the full scope of implementation services including analysis and reengineering of business processes, functional and technical configuration, custom enhancements development, testing and validation, data conversion, cutover planning, go-live and post go-live support.
By 2001, major changes in the manufacturing and telecommunications industries forced BEI to reorient its offer to cover a broader IT offering and transitioned into Bird Information Technology Corp. (BIT) accordingly.
Together, BEI and BIT have served customers in North, Central and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa.
More recently, BIT has expanded its offering to include management consulting services based on the use of information technology to achieve business improvement. These services include Business Process Modeling and Reengineering, Business Intelligence, Activity Based Costing, Master Production Scheduling, etc.
